About Book Estuary

I’m in my mid thirties, happily married to my first boyfriend and have 2 lovely kids. My love for reading started when I was a little kid. I could still remember writing letters to my aunt asking for children’s story books instead of toys. During middle school, despite limited book sources, I began reading pocket books and amongst my first addictions were Nancy Drew Mystery Stories by Carolyn Keene, Sweet Valley High by Francine Pascal and Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

My love for reading continued until the books from some bestselling authors were added to my list from the likes of Sidney Sheldon, Danielle Steele, Mitch Albom, Paulo Coelho, Nicholas Sparks and many more. As an avid reader, books that created major buzz never miss my fanatical enthusiasm towards great stories. I think I read them all, from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher, and G.R.R. Martin’s The Song of Ice and Fire.

Truly, I can say that I am a true blood bibliophile. When I see great stories and outstanding writing, I would love to read them regardless of genre. I can read non-fiction, comics, manga and even cookbooks without any problems and I even have some favorites in these categories. But, my bias really lies in the romance genre. I’m such a sucker for love stories. About 20 years ago, when my book sources were still very limited, you would find me reading Harlequin Romance and Mills & Boon novels. I also love a few classics like Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre and some of Jane Austen’s work. In the past few years, I have always been on the lookout for new releases in the contemporary romance genre. I feel like reading love stories with great characters and fulfilling endings is becoming my sweet escape when life is getting harsher and tougher. In some ways, love stories make me feel good and they make me see life in a more positive perspective.

So, this book blog is my side hustle. Although I have a bias for the romance genre, I would not let any great story pass my reading list if it gets my attention. In fact, the best books that I have read so far are not in the romance genre. You will get to know soon my most favorite books in my future posts here on my blog.

I feel that creating this blog brings me a step closer to my dream of becoming a writer and writing my own book in the future. Also, I hope that through this blog, I can in a way give back to my community by advocating the love for books, for reading and for writing. I believe that reading great stories can affect many lives and in some cases can even change lives for the better. I hope to help bring books closer to the people who love them, help build a library in my community where people can have access to books especially the young ones. I have another post detailing why I choose Book Estuary as the name of my Blog. You can check it out from the link here

If I’m not reading, you can find me doing my full time work doing purchasing functions or taking care of my husband and my kids. On some days, I feel like dancing along with dance workout videos on Youtube. I’m also an anime lover so I love binge watching anime series and yes romantic movies and series as well. Hopefully soon, I will get my law studies back on track as well.

I thank you in advance for being with me on this journey, let’s live a thousand lives by reading books from time to time. Living inside our own book bubble is like a treat that we can give ourselves occasionally so we can face life with recharged positivity and enthusiasm when it is time to face life challenges head on again.
